Koroao / Holaca LG 360 Cam waterproof case

Image
Koroao is a waterproof case for the LG 360 Cam  (there's also an identical case from Holaca). The case looks very similar to the Ricoh Theta TH-1 waterproof case .  However, the LG 360 Cam cannot be used with the TH-1 or similar 3rd party cases because its 1/4-20 tripod insert is offset from the center (to allow space for the memory card slot and USB Type C). The Koroao case resolves this with an adapter which you attach using an Allen key: Interestingly, it appears that the adapter does not obstruct the use of the LG's own case / sleeve, so it can be left on the LG 360 Cam until you're ready to use the memory card or charge the camera. I haven't tried the case yet so I don't know how well it performs, although at least one user has confirmed that it is waterproof . At around $25, the Koroao case costs much less than another waterproof case for the LG 360 Cam called the Voia .  There is also an identical case from Holaca at a similar price .  BTW, some photos show ...

LG 360 Cam update adds 360 audio

Image
LG 360 Cam , one of the most affordable fully spherical 360 cameras, received an update to its app that added several new features including 360 audio. The LG 360 Cam app received an app update, which is supposed to add several features: 1. 360 audio :  With 360 audio, the sound will change to reflect the direction the viewer is looking at, including directly above or below. Here is a sample video with 360 audio: 2. 360 preview .  Until now, when viewing a live preview on the app, you could only see either the front lens view or the rear lens view.  The update is supposed to add a true 360-degree preview. 3. Bottom logo sticker .  The update adds the ability to add a watermark.  I'm not sure if the watermark is customizable. 4. LED on/off .  The update adds the option to turn the LED on or off. I tried the update but I wasn't able to access any of the new features.  It appears that a firmware update is required.  However, I haven't been able to up...

Which is the best 360 camera for a vacation?

Image
If you're going on a vacation, a 360 camera is a must-have for your trip.  But there are now several 360 cameras on the market.  Which one of them would be the best? The best 360 camera depends on your specific needs: If you are just starting out and want the most affordable 360 camera, that would be the LG 360 Cam (originally $199, on sale for $99 ; reviewed here ).  The LG 360 Cam is compatible with both iOS and Android.  Photos are stitched in-camera, while videos are stitched on your smartphone via an app.  It has decent image quality for both photos and videos.  However, in low light, there is a lot of chroma noise.  You also need to keep it charged at night because the battery drains even during standby. If social media is important to you, and you'd like to be able to share photos and videos easily , and even do a livestream in 360 , the best camera at the moment is the  Insta360 Nano ( $199 ; reviewed here ).  The Nano connects to y...
